Nancy Newman, Artist

Nancy, a retired art teacher and practising artist, has studied and taken workshops with wonderful Canadian artists including Karin Isenburg, Brian Atyeo, Linda Kemp, Art Cunanan, Pauline Holancin, Jake Mol, Margaret Roseman, Barry Coombs, John David Anderson, Elisabeth A. Gibson, Jean Pederson and Gordon Mackenzie. In addition she has been fortunate to work with well-known American and international artists such as Janet Rogers, Tom Lynch, Sterling Edwards, Karen Vernon, and Alvaro Castagnet.

Nancy has participated in many juried and solo shows including the Toronto Watercolour Society’s Aquavision, Art Aurora, and the Society of York Region Artists, where she has received several 1st Place Awards, Honourable Mentions and People's Choice Awards. Nancy's work has been exhibited at the Aurora Cultural Centre, The Colleen Abbot Gallery, the Papermill Gallery in Toronto, the Ethel Curry Gallery in Haliburton, The Blue Mountain Foundation of the Arts, the Skylight Gallery in Aurora, Nielson Park Creative Centre, the Georgina Arts Centre and The Columbus Centre in Toronto.

Nancy is the Past President of the Society of York Region Artists and the Past President of the Toronto Watercolour Society. She is also a member of the Blue Mountain Foundation for the Arts, the East Central Ontario Art Association and an associate member of the Canadian Society of Painters in Watercolour.

Nancy has been the guest instructor at several art societies including The Forest Hill and Don Valley Art Club and the Willowdale, Richmond Hill, and Markham Groups of Artists, as well as the Marsh Street Painters in Clarksburg. In the summer of 2015, Nancy will be returning to the Haliburton School of the Arts. In June, she will be offering a week long plein air course at the Blue Mountain School of Landscape Painting. In addition Nancy will be the instructor for two four day sessions at the Creative Arts Retreat at Woodside. For more information, contact the artist.

Nancy Newman and Linda Welch are pleased to offer opportunities to paint and photograph On Location. In 2013, Nancy and Linda led a group trip to Limoux in France. In 2014, they led an amazing group of artists to Ireland. There is limited space for On Location Ireland 2015. Plans are in the works for future trips to Ireland and Spain.
